About Treacle and Molasses

Two of the longest residents in our rescue. They came to us in May 2021 in very bad shape. Molasses was about 11 years old and Treacle was 1. Both were very sick with severe respiratory infection, malnourished and Treacle was heavily pregnant. Despite them being black cats their coats were copper brown from being exposed to outside life.

Treacle’s pregnancy was very tough with so many health complications. She had 3 kittens and raised them. If Treacle remained a stray she would have died at least three times because all the health issues, her kittens wouldn’t have made it either. She was too young and weak to give birth and didn’t know how to look after them at the beginning.

Unfortunately after all the medical help both cats received for their severe respiratory infection it didn’t bring great results. Both cats were left with permanent respiratory difficulties which makes their breathing very loud. Eye infections left their eye tear ducts blocked which makes their eyes teary with constant discharge. Hard life outside and bad diet made their teeth rot so both cats needed dental work done and now they are left with just a couple of teeth.

They are safe in our care but most likely will be here for quite a bit of time. Our rescue foster home might become their permanent home, especially for Molasses who is 15 years old now and still not keen on humans. Treacle is a lovely cat and 5 years old now but with all health complications it is hard to tell if she will ever find a Home. Please consider becoming their sponsor.
